The grandmother of the famous Yagyū Jūbei, and a master of the Yagyū Shinkage-Ryū sword style. While normally an earnest and driven woman, every few months she suffers a period of depression that drives her to stay in bed, doing little more than eating and sleeping and refusing to speak with people. Generally, she perks back up after two or three days.
