A Zen priest of the Rinzai school. She dabbled in almost all elements of classical Japanese culture, including inventing the takuan pickled radish that bears her name. A pleasant and soothing woman, she is close friends with many influential figures of her era, including Tokugawa Ieyasu and Yagyū Jūbei. She regales her visitors with outlandish tales that everyone knows aren't true, but they're so popular that they've even been collected in a storybook.
